Meanings
I believe that all art has a meaning. Now that may sound a little vague to some, but let me explain. The definition of art states that art is creativity, so whatever someone sees as creative technically means that it is art to them. Everyone see’s art differently which is why it is so hard to pin-point exactly what a certain painting, song, or dance means. The thing is art isn’t supposed to have a particular meaning or purpose at all.
Personally art seems a tad bit boring when it is in the form of a painting, but that doesn’t mean that all art is meaningless to me. As a kid when we would go on field trips to museums i’d be the one who was complaining or pouting the whole time. I thought that a whole day dedicated to looking at boring paintings was the worst possible field trip that the school had ever done. Back then I didn’t understand the hidden meaning that all art had. Over time as I grew in age and as a person I gradually learned what art meant. The concept that I could once not grasp had finally started to come to me. Art means what you want it to mean no matter how crazy or down to earth your perspective of it might be. No matter what the art is called or what you are told about it the true meaning comes from your prospective.
The meaning of art could stem from the mood and setting that you are in while viewing it. If you're viewing art in a dark setting you may not enjoy it as much as if it was in a bright room. The same goes for who you're seeing the art with, and if the art has a description. All artwork usually has a description, but that's just what the artist thought when they created it. Art is meant to be seen in many different perspectives and the artists know that when they create it. Making art takes special skills that everyone has, but some don’t realize they do. When creating art you of course have an end goal or ideal outcome, but sometimes you stray from the initial concept. The thing is that's okay no artist has ever stuck to their original idea without modifying it or tweaking certain aspects.
Although art can come in many different shapes and forms it all has a purpose. Art has many purposes, but some main ones are to inspire others, improve moods, and to let people express themselves. The creator and viewer of art can even disagree on the purpose or what exactly the art means, but overall everything that is created has a meaning. Art has a meaning even if it is hidden, but that doesn't mean everyone has to see it with the same perspective.
I believe that all art has a meaning. No matter what it’s supposed to mean or what it is perceived as. All art has some type of meaning that is meant to be seen in different ways.
