Sometimes You Need To Give and Take

Feedback is needed in order to grow. According to Grant Wiggins feedback is useful information about the effects of an action in light of a goal. However controversial feedback is necessary for some to realize their mistakes and to improve. I personally like feedback even though it might not always look like it, feedback helps me grow as a student and out in the workfield. As long as the receiver is open minded when it comes to feedback it should help them improve their work while also understanding what needs to be revised. Once people take ownership over the decision to receive feedback, they’re less defensive about it, states Adam Grant. Letting someone decide if they want feedback from a peer helps them adjust to the news better, whether it is good or bad. Personally I don't like to give feedback to others, I feel this way because if someone takes my comments the wrong way and no longer feels confident about their work it feels like it's my fault. As Gravity Goldberg says with a fixed mindset comes resistance to working hard and putting extra effort in because there is really no point. Having a fixed mindset means that no matter what anyone tells you, it doesn't affect your work, so even if the feedback is positive it doesn't matter to you. Overall feedback is needed if you ever want to improve your work, and everyone should be open minded when receiving it whether you like it or not.
